An Organizational Chart That Didn’t Include Me…
I would like to say I was laid off because it sounds better than they fired me. But I had been working for this bank for 23 years and about a year ago we got a new boss who did not like me. He had his chosen ones and everyone else was expendable. Well he and his chosen ones were looking for a way to get rid of me. And no I am not being paranoid.
How do I know I am not paranoid? The new boss made up an organizational chart and the only person in the whole department that was not on the chart was me. I was never even mentioned despite that fact that I had more contact with the people he was presenting the chart to than anyone else..including himself.
So anyway one day one of the supervisor asked me to do something to help him with an issue. I did what he asked me to do and was then fired for doing the very thing I was asked to do for him. He claimed it was a policy violation. Of course that turned out not to be true but that wasn’t discovered until I went to court. T
They then denied me unemployment and it took 4 months for arbitration to take place. At which point it was determined that in fact they fired me for no reason at all since I had not done anything wrong. But because there wasn’t blatant discrimination I had no recourse. But it was determined that they couldn\’t deny me unemployment. So I was able to collect finally.
It just bothers me that they can get away with whatever they want without any recourse for the person they did it to. I have been looking for a job since the first day of my firing and all I have gotten are offers that turn out to be deceptions and aren’t really jobs. But I will continue to plug along. Put in a good word for me out into the cosmos maybe it will fall on the ears of someone who has a job to be filled. Thanks
