Compliance Analyst Compliant
I got laid off on January 6th. I took my vacation in December and went back to work on January 5th. The next day I was told I was on a list for persons who would be laid off. I still don’t really know how to feel about it. In a way I expected it, so I guess it’s not a complete surprise.
When I look back though, I see all the mistakes that were made with management. The company was doing great in early 2008 and everyone was reaping the benefits.
Anyway, as much as it sucks not having a job, I’m looking at this positively. I take it as a blessing in disguise. There are things I want to do with my life and now is the best time to pursue them.
I’ve applied to college after taking some time off and I’m getting ready to move out on my own. It really does suck to lose a job, but I believe everything happens for a reason. This unfortunate event is a blessing and I’m going to embrace it.
The one thing I am really upset about – that I just realized – is that the position I held as a Compliance Analyst was a waste of time. When applying for jobs I have had to rely on my job experiences from over 3 years ago. A Compliance Analyst may sound like something fancy – and that is just what it was – a fancy name. I only had that title because it sounded sophisticated. Basically I reviewed websites all day – some job, huh.
I have applied for unemployment but it takes them forever to send a check. I just hope that soon I will find a job and the economy will get better. I never imagined the US – the incredible United States of America getting to this point.
