NEVER LOOKING BACK!!!!!
The news hit me out of no where and even with the crippling economy, I was very shocked to hear the words, “I have to let you go” spew from the lips of my former boss.
Here is a little history about my employment with the company.
I worked in Sales and Marketing for an education company which specialized in international language programs for 3 years.
During the first quarter of this year, my sales exceeded my quota and I was the only person on the sales team to receive a bonus.
A week or so later I received an e-mail from my manager stating that my bonus would not be paid right away due to the nagging money problems that the company was facing. My response to her was that I wanted a firm date in which my bonus would be paid because I did not want to constantly remind our boss of his outstanding debt to me. She assured me that she would talk to him about it and get back to me…….
Two weeks pass and my boss calls me into his office. At this point my bonus had not been paid, so I entered the room assuming that our meeting would address this issue of my outstanding bonus.
To my shock, he leaned back in his chair and said “This is not good news… I’m going to have to let you go”….
During our meeting he expressed his sadness and blamed the recession. I noted that the recession was not making the decision to “let me go,” he was.
After our meeting I shook his hand and left with my head held high.
I am actually very happy that it happened because it forced me to take some serious stalk of my life, and I have decided to go back to school and get an MBA in marketing.
I’m already taking some classes at a college close to my house and am loving all the free time that I have to finish my books of poetry and children stories.
I am living in the moment and never looking back!!!!
