Easier when it is expected
When I was working for a very small company, it was pretty obvious things were going downhill for a long time. This was about 2004. Most of us were getting paid salary for working far less then 40 hours a week.
Rumour had been around for a few months that I would likely be the first to go, but I could keep the company bought vehicle.
I believe I missed the day I was to be let go, due to the fact I took the day off to go on an interview. The next day I he gave me the news. I pulled out vehicle transfer papers. Sure enough he signed it over, even paid the transfer fees.
The comapany I work for now let a lot of people go recently. I was not one of them.
