Thanks for supporting the arts
Well, I was a part time music teacher, so I knew I would be the first to go when things got tough. But, after the rumors started that seven teachers were getting laid off, the superintendent finally comes to me, right as a class is walking in as the bell rings, and says, “You know about the budget, right?” What a way to start class. Finally a month later I got the letter from admin saying it’s a reduction in force.
One guy got RIFFED while he was overseas. No one bothered to tell him, and when he got back, the PE teacher had the galls to say “Welcome back, you’re getting riffed!” Another teacher was called at 5 pm the same evening as the board meeting to be told she was being riffed. I feel lucky that at least the superintendent told me to my face!!!
